A Bar Mitzvah on the March
By: Adam Rosensweig

My Bar-Mitzvah this morning was incredibly meaningful. Besides the inherent honor of passing into manhood, today's ceremony was equally important - as it was a long time coming.

People often ask why I waited so long to have my Bar-Mitzvah. The reason is simple: Until this week, I did not feel ready.

I actually found it fitting and appropriate that my passage should deal with the concept of community and the how to fairly treat one's neighbor. It was these very concepts that gave me the feeling of readiness I needed to enter Jewish manhood.

The feelings of camaraderie that were present on the March, led me to realize that indeed the commandment to "love the neighbor as thyself" is the basis of the entire Torah.

As we cried together throughout Poland, I realized that the bond between us goes deeper than we'll ever understand.

With such a realization, I knew I was ready for my entrance into manhood."
